The Run Project

Running with intention

What are you
really running for?

Most training apps give you a plan and walk away. We help you build a goal that means something, commit to it in your own words, and adapt the training as life happens — with a coach you can actually talk to.

Three promises

What makes this different.

A goal you write in your own words.

In the weeks before your race, you commit to a pace and a sentence you'll carry to the start line. It's your promise — locked in, not generated.

A plan that listens before it pushes.

Every morning, a 20-second check-in. Slept badly? Stressed? The session adjusts so you protect the work that matters.

Sam reads everything, then talks to you.

Your coach has full context — your goal, your last three runs, your morning mood. Ask a question, push back on a session, change your week. Sam listens.

How it works

From first question to start line — and everything in between.

01

Tell us what you're working towards

Your race, your timeline, your current fitness. We ask only what shapes the plan — then use it to build a phase-structured block calibrated to you. Not a template. Not a generic PDF.

02

Get a readiness assessment before you commit

Before generating your plan, we calculate whether your goal is realistic given where you are right now. Green means go. Amber means let's talk. Red means we'll find a better route — and tell you why.

03

Check in every morning

Each day, a 30-second check-in captures sleep, stress, and energy. The coach uses it to flag patterns — not to nag you, but to tell you when your body is asking for less before it breaks.

04

Log it. The plan responds

Log your sessions and how they felt. If your RPE is consistently too high on easy days, the coach notices and says something. If you're consistently outperforming targets, we'll adjust up. The plan is a living document.

05

Your coach is always in the room

Ask about pacing, race strategy, a niggle, or why today's session is structured the way it is. The coach has full context — your history, your recent weeks, your goal — and gives real answers, not disclaimers.

What we believe

What we believe about training.

Training science, not trends

Every plan is grounded in periodisation, progressive overload, and polarised training principles. The kind of structure coaches like Daniels, Pfitzinger, and Canova have used for decades — not what's popular on social media this week.

Recovery is part of the plan

Easy days are prescribed easy for a reason. Recovery weeks are built in on purpose. The coach will tell you when to back off — and explain the physiology behind why that's the right call.

Honest, not motivational

We won't tell you every session was great. We won't pretend a hard week was fine when the data says otherwise. Good coaching includes the conversations that are harder to have.

You stay in control

Move a workout. Skip a session. Reduce a long run. The coach adapts around your decisions rather than ignoring them. Your life doesn't pause for your training block — the plan shouldn't either.

Ready when you are

Start with the goal. The plan follows.

It takes about 3 minutes. You'll tell us what you're working towards, see a 2-week preview of how the training would shape, and decide if it's a goal worth committing to.

What this isn't

We're not the cheapest plan generator. We're not promising you a PB in 8 weeks. We're not going to send you a 6×800m at 4:15 with no context and call it coaching.

We're for runners who also want to think about why they're running, not just how fast.

If that's you, welcome.
